Argyri “Audrey” Sgouris passed away on February 21st, 2022, at the age of 87, in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Argyri is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Athanasia Sgouris and Haralambos Zopounidis and their children Elle and Alexa; Eriklonia and Matthew Salvino and their son Phillip; Hariklia Sgouris and her son Alexander; Sisters Theno, Zoi, and Maria. Argyri was preceded in death by her sister Eleni and her husband Filimon Sgouris.
A life and legacy like Argyri’s cannot simply be summarized. Her journey began in Greece where she was born on August 7th, 1934, to the late Hariklia and Vasileios Arnaoutoglou. Her late husband, Filimon Sgouris, and her immigrated to the United States and eventually owned their own business, Pappas Pizza of 201 Main Street in Stamford, Connecticut. They didn’t know then, but it would grow into a staple of the community in the years to come. Customers became family and Pappas Pizza became a second home to many because of the warmth and generosity of Filimon and Argyri. The couple loved and was proud of the community they built because it was a representation of decades of hard work, sacrifice, family, and love.
Filimon and Argyri eventually retired in Florida and lived out their final years doing the things they loved: cooking, gardening, listening to Greek music, enjoying their pets, and spending time with their family.
If you are reading this the family asks not for flowers or donations, but to honor Filimon and Argyri’s legacy by demonstrating love and kindness to everyone.
