Grace Carmela Guercio, known to her family as Grandma Gracie, passed away on February 10, 2024, at the age of 98, in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Grace was born on May 9, 1925, in Brooklyn, New York, to her parents, Natale and Concetta Ippolito. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother.
Grace was a strong-minded woman who believed in the power of positive thinking. She loved a good debate and was intrigued by both spiritual and philosophical topics. Grace enjoyed playing competitive games like Mah Jong, Bridge, and various card games. She was skilled in crocheting and knitting, creating many beautiful pieces for her family. Grace cherished her family above all else and held a deep love for her Catholic faith. She spoke often about fond memories of her childhood in Brooklyn, surrounded by her mother, siblings and other loved ones. She took great pride in her 4 children, 13 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and the newest member of the family, her great-great grandchild.
Grace will be remembered most for her love of music. She played music when she was happy and when she was feeling blue. She sang while she did housework, while she cooked and while she relaxed. In the last years of her life, Grace spent most of her day listening to and talking about the music that brought her joy. She had an immense record collection and knew every word to every Louie Armstrong, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin song among many, many others.
Grace worshipped at St. Lucie Catholic Church, where she found solace and strength in her faith. Her devotion to her religion was an integral part of her life.
Grace is survived by her children Natale Guercio (Linda), Sally Guercio, Concetta Pizzarello (Peter) as well as her grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph C. Guercio, her son Philip J. Guercio, her daughter-in-law Grace Guercio, her great-granddaughters Sierra Bradley and Kali Bradley.
