

James worked for telephone communications companies for many years, many of which were spent with New York Telephone Co., as a repairman and splicer. James was associated with The Pioneers Group, which was a civic organization of phone company employees that would give back to their communities. In New York, he was active in the VFW, serving as Past Commander. James was a Volunteer Fireman and was also Chief of the local department in Long Island. He was also Past Commissioner of the department. James was active with the Men’s Club at Holy Family Catholic Church before becoming a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. He was also associated with the Holy Name Society. Those that know James, know him as the man who “Could Do It All”. In his spare time, James enjoyed woodcarving, gardening, and going for walks.
James was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward and Walter Drumm; and daughter, Linda Benson.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Joan B. Drumm; daughters, Patricia Maida (Joseph), of The Villages, Florida and Melanie Harman (D.J.), of Jensen Beach; grandchildren, David Benson Jr., Christopher Benson, Kevin Maida, Meghan Harman, and Sean Harman; 9 great grandchildren; brother, Hugh Eugene Drumm, of New York ; and son-in-law, David Benson Sr., of Tennessee.
A Funeral Mass in James Honor will be held Friday, November 11, 2016 at 10 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Inurnment will follow at Rolling Oaks Cemetery in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of ones choice in James’ honor.
