Jim was born in Laconia, NH, and became a resident of Port St. Lucie in the early 1990’s. After serving our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, Jim went on to pursue his entrepreneurial dreams and achieved tremendous success. He is most widely known for his Labor Finders franchises and most recently as the Executive Director of the St. Lucie County Education Foundation. As Jim’s career progressed, he became an integral member of the Treasure Coast community. He was a man filled with a love of life, generous spirit and a passion to improve the lives of those around him. Jim’s philanthropy was delivered in many ways; from monetary donations, to one-on-one mentoring, and to giving an unmeasurable amount of his time in advisory roles to the countless number of boards and committees on which he served. He was a man with the biggest heart and he enjoyed sharing it with his family. Jim was as loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who enriched so many lives. Our community has suffered a tremendous loss in Jim McKenzie’s passing. The void he leaves behind will not easily be filled.
Survivors include his wife Maria McKenzie of Port St. Lucie, FL; one daughter April McKenzie-McPherson and one granddaughter McKenzie McPherson of Lancaster, PA; stepdaughter Tiffany Block of Tampa, FL; stepson Brandon Block of Port St. Lucie, FL; one sister, Helen Dowd, of St. Petersburg, FL; and one brother, John McKenzie.
