

Robert was born to the late Martin and Irma Fisler and raised in Camden, New Jersey. After high school, Robert served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He returned to New Jersey, where he worked for New Jersey Bell Telephone Company for 33 years. In 1986 he retired and moved from HiNella, New Jersey to Elijay, Georgia with his wife, Carol where they resided for 10 years, before moving to Sebastian, Florida where they lived for 12 years. He and Carol eventually ended up back in Georgia for 6 years before settling in Port St. Lucie 3.5 years ago. Robert was active in The Masonic Lodge, Knights of Columbus, Amateur Trapshooting Association, NRA, and was a Lifetime member of the telephone Pioneers of America, which was a civic organization for telecommunications employees. For many years he was involved in competitive trapshooting and won several awards.
He kept himself busy after retirement with many part-time jobs and volunteerism, such as security guard, construction, police volunteer, and state park campground host. He enjoyed giving to others and helping many people out to the best of his abilities. In his spare time Robert enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, spending time as an outdoorsman, hiking, RV'ing, canoeing, and was known for his handyman skills around the neighborhood.
Robert was preceded in death by his brother, Martin Fisler.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Carol Fisler; children, Brian Tomasino (Angelica), of Connecticut and Janet Vaughn (Aaron), of Nevada; and grandchildren, Amber, Bryce, and Jimmy.
Inurnment with Military Honors will take place on Tuesday June 27, 2017 at 11 am at South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Florida. Family and friends attending are asked to arrive at lane 5 at the cemetery no later than 10:45 am.
