Carolyn L. (Griffin) Whitney

She was born in Portland, ME on August 29, 1941 a daughter of the late Dwinal and Elizabeth (Dyer) Griffin Sr. She attended Cliff Island School, East Sebago School and Portland High School.

Psalm 23

The Lord is My Shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; he leadeth me beside the still waters

He restoreth my soul; he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Carolyn enjoyed spending time with her family and taking road trips with Charlie Meeks. She enjoyed doing puzzles, reading, fishing, and gardening. Carolyn had a giving heart; she would help the people in her life even if it meant her going without.

Carolyn is survived by her longtime companion Charlie Meeks of Turner; brothers, Alan Griffin and his wife Lucille of South Casco, Cliff Griffin and his wife Mildred of Auburn, and Theodore Griffin and his wife Lucinda of South Portland; six sons, Algernon Collins III of Lewiston, Robert Collins and his wife Monique of Poland, David Collins of Lewiston, Jody Collins and his longtime friend Lottie Greer of Canton, Patrick Collins and his wife Krystal of CT, Shawn Whitney and his wife Kristin of Auburn; two daughters, Donna Kane Peppin of Auburn, and April Hunt of Dixfield. She also leaves behind twenty-four grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren. She was also the sister of the late Dwinal Griffin Jr., David Griffin, Margorie Griffin and Teresa Griffin.

There will be a private burial service then a family gathering in the summer upon the request of Carolyn.
