Charles Edward Thompson

At Maine Medical Center. He was 69 years old, with his wife Helen and son John, and Dolores at his side. He was born on Oct. 27, 1955 In Portland Maine to June (Beeler) Thompson and Charles Beeler. Charlie at age 8 was adopted by John F. Thompson, at age 8 he joined the Drum & Bugle Corp” Till he aged out at the age of 12. He attended Portland Schools till he graduated in 1974. After he graduated, Charlie joined The United States Marine Corps, where during his time there Charlie became ill and was found to have heart trouble and received an honorable discharge. In 1993 Charlie had open heart surgery to have his aorta valve replaced. Later Charlie began driving taxi for many years until he began his own Taxi cab company called C&J taxi. Charlie then began driving for the So. Portland bus service, Charter busses, and then for the Cape Elizabeth School bus service for many years. Charlie loved working for the school department and taking the children back and forth to school and their sports events. After retiring from Cape Elizabeth School Dept. He tried to form a Drum Corps here in Portland Maine. There hasn’t been one here in over 35 years . But even through his efforts he could not make it work. A short time later he came down with cancer & diabetes. After suffering for many years and treatments his heart could take no more and he was called home to be with the Lord. Charlie is predeceased by his mother June Thompson, his father Charles Beeler, and his adopted father John F. Thompson, and his brother Frederick Holt. He is survived by his wife Helen, his son John, sisters Nancy Korsenowski, Marie Holt St. Michelle, and a brother John Thompson, 2 biological granddaughters: Erin (Thompson) Stover, and Alexis (Thompson) Stover, and a grandchild by affinity Haillie Stover, a nephew Frederick Rheaume and many aunts and uncles, nieces & nephews.

Services will be held on Saturday July 12, 2025, at 10:00am, at the Faith Lighthouse Church at 47 Smith Wheel Rd. In Old Orchard Beach, Maine followed by grave site prayers at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Falmouth Maine at 9 Waites Landing Rd. Falmouth, Maine.
