

He was born on October 23, 1934 in Portland, ME, a son of the late Francis L. & Margaret (Ciccone) Sullivan. He grew up in Portland, attending local area schools. He also served his country as a member of the US Army.
Daniel spent muchof his life involved with boxing, first as a boxer, then a trainer and finally a referee. After retiring from boxing he finished his working career as an automobile salesman.
He was a member of the Sahara Club in Portland as well as a former member of both the Portland Boxing Club and the Maine Racquet & Fitness Club.
Besides boxing and racquetball, Daniel also enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and was a great poker player. He served as the state chairman of the US Racquetball Association and the Maine Chapter President. He also was a longtime member at Riverside Golf Course and volunteered at the Mercy Hospital Recovery Center.
He is survived by his children Vicki Sullivan and her partner Paul Samms and Louri Sullivan both of Portland, Joel Sullivan Sr. and his wife Kelly of Holly Springs, NC and Sara Cusson and her husband Andrew of Scarborough. He also leaves his grandchildren, Jessica and Christopher Collins, Heather and Dillon Henry, Brandon Sullivan, Michael, Cassaundra, Michaela and Joel Sullivan Jr., Drew and Nathan Cusson, Nichole Demsky and Daniella Sullivan, as well as his two brothers Antonio DeSalle and Richard Sullivan. He was also the father of the late Daniel Sullivan Jr. and the brother of the late Rudolph DeSalle.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Visitation on Monday, June 1, 2015 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Wilde Memorial Chapel in Evergreen Cemetery, 672 Stevens Ave., Portland. A Memorial Service will follow in the chapel at 1 p.m.
Burial in The MaineVeterans Cemetery in Springvale will be private.
