He was born in Portland, ME a son of the late Seymour W. and Evelyn (Gregor) Tice. He attended local area schools as well as Portland High School. John worked for many years at Town Taxi and Serve - U Garage as a mechanic and later for the Town of Scarborough as a maintenance worker at the High School.
John enjoyed boating on Sebago Lake, races at Beach Ridge Speedway and horse racing at Scarborough Downs.
He leaves behind a son John Gregor Tice Jr. of Florida, a brother Seymour W. Tice Jr. of Danvers, MA, a niece Susan Markham of Connecticut and a sister Charlene M. Garnett of Mount Vernon, ME along with many cousins.
A graveside service will be held in the Spring.
