Laton Gifford, 67, of Portland, Maine, passed away on April 14, 2026 after a lengthy illness. She leaves behind her two daughters, Morgan and Jessica, three grandchildren, Kylie, Wyatt and Emma and her two brothers Mark and Sam.
She was a vibrant bundle of energy who at the age of seven nearly gnawed the hinges off her bedroom door. With her vivid coif of red hair and boundless positive enthusiasm, she brightened every room she entered. Her friends were loyal and abundant. She was stunning on the diving board or in the pool and tenacious as the only female on her college soccer team.
Her daughters will remember her for her love and passion for cooking, which she passed on to them, and the way they danced around their living room together when they were young.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Fallbrook Commons in Portland, Maine, who brought comfort to Laton in her declining years. There will be a private remembrance to honor her life.
