Born on August 18, 1965, in Portland, he was the son of Janet (Forbes) Seavey and Paul Seavey Jr. Melvin was a hardworking and dedicated businessman, proudly owning and operating Mel’s Moving Company for many years.
Melvin found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved country music, spending time outdoors, and hosting cookouts with family and friends. He was also known to unwind by watching his favorite soap operas. Above all, Melvin cherished the time he spent with his family, who meant everything to him.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his son, Christopher Hopkins. He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Phyllis Seavey; his children, Christopher Seavey, Kristen Seavey, Ernest Diggins, and Ericka Goodnow-Arsenault; and his 11 grandchildren. He also leaves behind his siblings, Paul Seavey III, David Seavey, Timothy Seavey, John Seavey, and Bessie “Betsy” Tucker and many nieces and nephews.
Melvin will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of family, and the many memories he created with those closest to him.
