Ralph was born to Ernestine L. and Ralph V. Cox, Jr. on September 25, 1961 in Portland ME. Ralph grew up and attended South Portland schools. Upon graduation Ralph joined the U. S. Navy. Ralph specialized in all aspects of diesel engine operation and maintenance. Ralph was stationed at Norfolk, VA., and sailed around the world on DDG 38 U.S.S. Luce.
Ralph returned to Maine after his honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy. Ralph worked at many jobs until he was hired by Maine Medical Center in Security. Due to the ravages of Multiple Sclerosis and its’ complications Ralph was unable to work again.
Ralph loved animals, the ocean, fishing, computer technology, watching baseball and Kansas City Chiefs football, taking walks when he could and shrimp! Ralph had a rebellious, hell-raising streak but was also quiet, caring and had a big heart. Ralph gave the shirt off his back to many, never hesitating to help if he could.
Unsavory, exploitive people took advantage of Ralphs’ kindness for years.
May those who exploited and took advantage of Ralph be prepared to answer to your maker and explain to Ralph why he was victimized by you.
Ralph is preceded by his father, Ralph V. Cox, Jr., Sister Marilyn Lawrence, and grandparents Nellie Alcott, Ralph V. Cox, Sr. and Nellie Mae Dow Cox.
Ralph is survived by his mother, Ernestine Louise Cox-Webb of Anson, ME.; sisters’ Sally A. Ledford of Wichita, KS, Pamela E. Silberberg and husband Gary of Augusta, ME.: brothers Vernon L. Cox of Anson, ME., Daniel R. Cox of Portland, ME.; one nephew, three nieces, and five grandnephew/nieces. Ralph is survived by many good and faithful friends.
Ralphs’ family expresses thanks to all the medical professionals, caregivers and friends that helped Ralph through his life.
