Thomas Harry Davis, 64, passed away on November 19, 2020. Tom was born in Lewiston, Maine in 1956 and grew up in Durham, Maine. Tom lived in Brunswick, Maine during his high school years and graduated from Brunswick High School in 1974. Tom went on to get a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Maine at Orono and graduated with a distinction in accounting in 1978. He became a member of the National Association of Accountants.
Tom worked as an Accountant at Maine Wiring in Lewiston, Maine and then at Maine Electronics in Lisbon, Maine before moving to Maine Auto Service in Lewiston, Maine where he was a loyal and dependable employee from July, 1991 until his passing, nearly 30 years.
Tom showed an early affinity for numbers and had a terrific memory. At ages 13 and 14 he won the Androscoggin County Spelling Bees. Throughout his life, he could remember the dates of birthdays, weddings and deaths for his entire family, along with the dates of other family milestones, celebrity birthdays and events around the world.
Tom was a member of the Scrabble Players Association and for many years would travel to Scrabble tournaments in addition to playing regularly with friends. He was pictured contemplating a move at the Maine Event Scrabble Tournament in the Portland Herald in 2009. Tom was an avid fan of Jeopardy! right from its debut in 1964. He would ask his Grandmother to watch the show when he was at school and report to him on who won and by how much. In later years, when Tom was an adult and the show moved to the evenings, he would plan his day in order to be home in time to watch the show.
Tom is predeceased by his parents, Harold Joseph and Virginia Hodgkins Davis. He was an only child but had many cousins. He was the youngest cousin for both the Davis and Hodgkins families. He is survived by his cousins Doris Locke Weinbaum, James Locke and Robert Small on the Hodgkins side and by his cousins Arlene Flynn, Michael Sullivan, Daniel Sullivan, Beau Sullivan and Stuart Davis on the Davis side.
His family and friends are shocked and saddened that Tom has passed so suddenly. He will be missed, and not just for the dates and facts that only he carried in his head, but for his kindness and concern for others.
