Timothy Paul Nightingale of Freeport, Maine, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 18, 2026, following a long and complicated medical journey. His strength, resilience, and deep love for his family never wavered.
Tim was a gifted storyteller with a rare ability to make people laugh, forming lifelong, multigenerational friendships along the way. Those fortunate enough to be loved by him knew his love was unconditional and enduring.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Karla (Benn) Nightingale, and his daughter, Natalie Nightingale, who were the light of his life.
Born August 10, 1957, in Fort Fairfield, Maine, Tim was the son of Herbert I. and Ernestine Nightingale and a beloved brother to Stephen Nightingale, Betty Surrency (Terry), Matthew Nightingale (Susan), and Mary Campbell (Michael).
A proud 1976 graduate of Fort Fairfield High School, Tim excelled in athletics and was inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame in 2017 for basketball.
Tim spent 26 years at Camden National Bank, retiring as Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer. He also served on numerous regional and state boards, including the Finance Authority of Maine, the Economic Growth Council of Maine, the Maine Technology Institute, and the Maine Bankers Association.
Tim is survived by many family members and friends who loved him deeply. He is irreplaceable and will be forever missed.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
