Barbara McKinnon Barnes McCormick

Barbara worked many years for and retired from the NC Department of Health and Human Services. Throughout her life she was very active in the Raleigh Little Theater, Participating as Board Member, Costumer and Actress. She loved travel, art, history, theater, antiques, dogs and telling a good story.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her beloved husband, David McCormick and her sister Molly Barnes Nance.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Durham and husband Jack, of Raleigh and her much loved step-children, David McCormick (wife Pamela), Nancy McCormick, Janet McCormick (husband Don Walker) and Steve McCormick (wife Rachael); and grandchildren, Sam and Noah McCormick, Stephanie McCormick Holcomb, Chandler, Natalie, Alex and Lacy Walker. Also surviving are her sister’s children Kathy Nance Boulden, Mindy Nance Augusto, Ridge Nance, David Nance (wife Lori) and their children; as well as many other dearly loved family and friends.

A Celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd., Raleigh NC 27609 on Saturday December 7, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Her family will receive friends following the service, at the funeral home. A private graveside service will be held for the family at a later date.
