A Visitation with Liturgy will be held at 4:30 pm on Friday, December 28, 2018 at Brown Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Road Raleigh, NC 27609.
Funeral services will be held at a later date in Worcester, MA. Burial will follow at that time at Notre Dame Cemetery in Worcester, MA.
Daniel Martin Butler was born in Edinburgh, Scotland to Daniel and Frances Mary Butler on February 14, 1948. He married Shirley Ann Lavallee on June 7, 1970 in Worcester, MA.
Dan received his Bachelor’s degree from IIT (Illinois Institute of Technology) in 1972 and his Master of Business Administration degree from The University of Chicago in 1981.
Dan spent his career working in the tech industry at CNA Insurance Co., Chicago Title and Trust Co., Jewel-Osco Food Stores, Montgomery Wards, Carson Pirie Scott and Company, Boscov’s Department Stores, and Fujitsu America, Inc. Dan was a contributor in the development of the NRF-ARTS data model.
Dan is preceded in death by his parents Daniel Butler and Frances Mary Butler.
Dan is survived by his wife Shirley Ann Butler, their daughter Patricia Ann Myers, her husband Douglas Lee Myers, grandsons Alexander Lee Myers and Andrew Martin Myers, his brother Patrick Thomas Butler and wife Ruth Ann Butler and their children, his uncle Maurchie Geheran, aunt Ellen Geheran, cousin Martin Joseph Geheran and wife Carolyn Anne Geheran and their children Thomas Martin Geheran and Anne Cecelia Geheran.
Dan’s family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses, and other medical staff at REX Hospital for all of his care in the preceding weeks prior to his death.
