Don “Lee” Roberts of Raleigh, went to his heavenly home on Saturday, August 31, 2024. Lee was born in Raleigh, NC, June 17, 1947 to Don H. Roberts and Mabel H. Roberts. He was married to the love of his life Paula M. Roberts (aka “Ms Baby”) for nearly 40 years. Lee is survived by his wife Paula, his step sons John and Wes, his sister and brother-in-law Martha Frances (“Tootsie”) and Jackie and his nephews Don, his wife April and Billy.
As described by one of his many friends, Lee was a light to many, wherever he went. For Lee, no one was a stranger. He would talk to anyone, whether they were a homeless man or a corporate head, as though they were life-long friends. He was compassionate and met others with an open heart, full of empathy.
Lee was a retired, third generation “railroad man”, whose passion was music, dancing, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He had volumes of stories to tell, from a life that he lived to it’s fullest.
Lee, his life, his stories, his laughter will be sorely missed by his family and his friends. Comfort is drawn in knowing that he now stands before the One, Whom he loved most, Jesus Christ.
Lee could surely say, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness….” 2 Timothy 4:7-8.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024, at 11:00am at Brown Wynne Funeral Home on East Millbrook Rd.
