

Dorothy Jane Brugenhemke died peacefully Tuesday, February 5, at home. Dorothy and her husband, John, retired to Raleigh in 1983 from the Chicago area. She was born in Treynor, Iowa, and moved with John to several different states throughout his career with the CNW railroad. Dorothy was a vivacious, social person who loved bridge with her friends, Tuesday shopping with her daughters, vacations with family and dinner at The Heritage with the Fab Five Friends. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, John, and son-in-law David Speer. She is survived by her family: ‘Brug’ and Howie Jung of Raleigh, Barbara Speer of Winnetka, Il, grandchildren Blake Speer of Chicago, Il and his special friend, Melanie Moretto of Toronto, Canada, Sarah and Gareth Walter of San Francisco, CA, great-grandson River King Walter as well as nieces, nephews and cousins scattered across the United States.
Funeral Mass will be held Friday, February 8, 2013 at 12 noon, at St. Raphael Catholic Church in the Chapel of Our Lady Queen of the Americas. There will be visitation one hour before the service. Inurnment will take place the Saint Raphael Columbarium.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
