I have known Gerry Katzin since 1991 when I moved to the US. 
I will never forget Gerry’s generous help and support he provided to me and my family in our first years in Raleigh. Gerry was my friend, my mentor, my life adviser, and my research collaborator. Gerry, Judy and their family and friends did their best to help us when we needed it the most.
Gerry Katzin was a very special man; the world will not be the same without him.
My deepest condolences to Judy, Larry and Betsy, and the entire Katzin’s family.

Dear Katzins,
This is Arri Eisen, writing for my family from Atlanta, and sending our prayers and thoughts to all Katzins.  My dad told me yesterday the tragic news.  My favorite memory of Mr. Katzin (well, that's how I always think of him, of course, growing up) is his wonderful accent and how he ran and ran laps, always without stopping whenever me and my dad were up at Carroll Jr High.  There my dad would jog and we'd chat with Mr. Katzin, and my dad and I would shoot a few hoops.  And all was right with the world.
