She was preceded in death by her husband Frederick (Lee) Stokes on March 26th (his Birthday); her sisters Teresa Rhodes and Ann Sloan; and her brother George Penny.
She is survived by her brother Bobby Penny; her children Lee Stokes, Lori Stokes Anderson, Stacy Stokes Godwin, Matthew Stokes, Mark Stokes and Jeff Stokes; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and (Mema) to many.
Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 29, from 7-9 p.m., at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd., Raleigh, NC. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, March 30, at 2 p.m., at the funeral home with interment to follow at Raleigh Memorial Park. Her family will also receive friends at the home of her daughter Lori Anderson following the service.
