John Henry Brantly, 80, of Raleigh, passed away Saturday, April 5. He was the son of Marie Brown Brantly of Raleigh and John Brantly of Aberdeen. Born in Buckroe, Va, he grew up in Raleigh where he graduated from Hugh Morson High School. A dedicated Demon Deacon, John graduated from Wake Forest University in 1957. He then entered the mortgage banking industry where he worked for Cameron-Brown Mortgage Company and First Union Mortgage Company until he retired as a Senior Vice President. An avid golfer, John was a charter member of North Ridge Country Club in Raleigh.
There will be a funeral service on Thursday, April 10 at 3:00 pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh. The family will receive visitors following the ceremony.
John is survived by John McKinney Brantly (Son), Denese Marie Brantly Kramer (Daughter), John McKinney Brantly, Jr. (grandson), Steven Robert Brantly (grandson), Dayna Marie Kramer (granddaughter), and Jean Carole Harris Brantly (ex-wife of 28 years).
