Lawrence “Larry” Richard Landman, 61, passed away at his home in Durham, N.C. on August 27, 2022. Born in Jackson, Michigan, he graduated from the University of Michigan with a double major in math and English and then obtained his Master’s degree in English from Northwestern University.
He worked passionately for the sports information department at Northwestern University upon graduation. He then was an exceptional teacher and administrator at The Rumson Country Day School in New Jersey for 19 years. After moving to North Carolina, he tutored hundreds of students in the Triangle for the last 16 years.
He was devoted to his family and friends and never missed a birthday or anniversary. He was known for his wit and love of wordplay, literature, theater, and the long-suffering Detroit Tigers.
He is survived by his beloved wife , Paula, and his treasured son, Aaron. He also leaves behind his mother, Betty-Ann Landman, brothers Daniel (Debbie) and Benjamin (Jennifer) ,sister Naomi (Neil), brother-in-law Steven (Dafniella),father-in-law Zelik Zacharow, and nieces and nephews Lauren, Solomon, Hillel, Eliana, Mateo, Hananel, Emanuel, Betzalel, and Shai-li. He was predeceased by his father, Louis Landman.
The family wishes to thank everyone at UNC Cancer Hospital for their wonderful care and support. The family is also grateful to the neuro-oncology team at Northwestern Medical Center for offering hope and opportunity.
A funeral service will be held on August 30th at 1PM at Temple Beth Or in Raleigh, N.C.
