He is survived by his wife, of 56 years, Ruby L. (Shetter) Whidby; a daughter Vickie Garner and husband Simon of Clayton; two sons, Ron Whidby and wife Rachel of Raleigh and Richard Glen Whidby of Youngsville; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Kenneth Russell Whidby.
The family will receive friends Sunday 6-7:30 PM at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 Millbrook Rd., Raleigh. Graveside services and Military Honors will be held Monday at 1 PM at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens in Wake Forest. Reverend Kim Lamb will officiate.
