

Mickey was born in McCall, SC on November 27, 1936 to the late James Robert Parks and Lula James Parks. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his brother Mason Freeman Parks and sister Vera Parks Caldwell.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sylvia “Tootsie” Riddle Parks; daughter Angela Parks Hatchell and husband Jim of Raleigh, NC; daughter Michelle Lynn Parks of Atlanta, GA; grandson Griffin Parks Hatchell and wife Sarah of McDonough, GA; grandson Chandler Weston Hatchell and wife Rachel of Raleigh, NC; brother, James Keith Parks of Kannapolis; 5 nephews and 2 nieces.
Mickey grew up in Kannapolis, NC where he graduated from A.L. Brown High School. He served in the Army and later graduated from East Tennessee State University. He was an insurance agent with Nationwide Insurance for 34 years.
Mickey loved his family, the beach, music, art and cars and enjoyed watching the Carolina Panthers with his grandsons. He loved to tell a joke and was never at a loss for words.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at 3:00 pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC 27609. Friends may visit with the family immediately following the service.
