Perrin Moore Chappell, 95, died on June 27 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Born in Ontario, Canada, on August 18 1916, to the late Bess and Bruce Jones, she moved to Miami, Florida, where she became a naturalized citizen. Perrin married William Bradford Chappell in Miami in 1938 with whom she raised five children; Clifford Stephen, David Michael, Sharon Ann. John Wayne and Gary Bradford. They were married for 64 years until William Bradford's death in 2002.
Perrin "Babs" is survived by two children, Sharon Chappell of Raleigh and Gary Chappell of Washington, DC, two grandchildren, Andrew Quentin Chappell and David Zachary Carver, both of Raleigh.
During her husband Bill's service with the National Weather Bureau, the Chappell family lived in Tennessee, Nebraska, Texas, Oklahoma and Illinois before settling in Raleigh in 1953. The Chappell family built an authentic log cabin on 50 acres in North Raleigh which they eventually expanded to several homes and ponds. Perrin taught Sunday School at Trinity United Methodist Church in Raleigh for thirty years.
The family will receive friends, Monday, July 2, from 11 – 12 noon at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd. Raleigh, where Funeral Services will follow at 12 noon. Rev. Bruce Taylor will officiate. Burial at Raleigh Memorial Park.
