Born in Havana, Cuba in 1944, Saul immigrated to the United States in 1961 with Cecilia, the woman who eventually became his wife, where he attended school to study physics. In pursuit of the American dream, he started a family, bought a home and went to work to start a career. Starting as a programmer, he eventually became an entrepreneur and founded a series of highly successful software companies and served as an investor in other ventures.
Saul was a man with a great passion for both his adopted and native homelands. Late in life he returned to Cuba to visit and experience the country of his birth and became involved in several business ventures, including establishing the first company to obtain a US business license to operate in Cuba in nearly 60 years and Cuba's first kosher hotel.
Known for his quick wit, his warm smile and incomparable appetite, Saul lived life to the fullest, eating his way around the world, enjoying time with his family and friends, and building deep and lasting relationships with people near and far. Above all, he always took the opportunity to share his wisdom and success with others, helping an incredible number of people along the way.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 57 years, Cecilia, his children, Cindy and Ken White and Scott and Rachel Berenthal, along with his four grandchildren, Alyssa White, Jeremy White, Jared Berenthal and Kelli Berenthal as well as his brother, Jaime Berenthal.
A funeral service for Saul will be held Monday, April 24, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 East Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC 27609.
