Suzan Carole Cohn

Suzan Carole Cohn, 72 died Tuesday October 8th, 2013. Suzan was born December 18th, 1940 to Harry Shulman and Edith Lynn Shulman. Mother of Alyson Cohn, Leslie Cohn, and Tracy Miketa. Sister of Joan Shulman, grandmother of Michael, Andrew, Jared, Justin, and Elliot.

Susan was a graduate of Lafayette High School in Brooklyn NY and attended Brooklyn College and John Jay college of Criminal Justice in New York City. As a young girl Suzan played the accordion at Carnegie Hall.

As a young woman Suzan changed the lives of troubled youth, in her role, as a counselor at St. John's Home for Boys and Phoenix House in Rockaway NY. Later on she used her leadership, communications, and motivational skills as a successful Customer Service Manager at AT&T, where she worked for more than twenty years, and was loved by employees and customers alike.

Suzan was a kind and loving person who regularly went out of her way to help others, often to her own detriment.

Susan worked hard her whole life in an effort to better herself and the lives of those she loved. She believed in education and equality, and was an avid reader. Suzan was not afraid to state her mind and a good debate always ensued. She loved music, theatre and all the arts, but most of all she loved her family. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Temple Beth Or or Temple Beth Rishon, in Suzan’s name.

Services will be held Friday October 11th 2013 at 6pm at Temple Beth Or on Creedmoor Rd. in Raleigh. NC and Monday October 14th. 2013 at 7pm at Temple Beth Rishon in Wyckoff NJ
