Tanya Dianne Strickland

Tanya Diane Strickland, 41, departed this life, unexpectedly, Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Wake Medical Center. She was the loving daughter of Robert and Connie Strickland of Raleigh and Patricia Faye Strickland and Jim Graziano of Hampstead and the mother of her 10 year old daughter Harley Diane Taylor of Hampstead. She is also survived by her grandparents, Doris Douglas of Corinth-Holders, and Rose and Vernon Carter of Mount Olive, NC, as well as a large number of aunts, uncles and cousins throughout North Carolina.

Tanya will be remembered for her good heart, laughter, love of music, love of friends & family , and her ability to chime into any conversation with knowledge. She was an avid writer, keeping journals almost daily, and occasionally wrote poetry. Harley was dearly loved and cherished by her mom. The memories of camping, riding rides, swimming and simply hanging out will never be forgotten .She loved her daughter more than life itself, and she will be sorely missed.

A memorial service will be held on August 31, 2014 at 3 p.m. ,Faith Harbor United Methodist Church, 14201 NC HWY 50, Holly Ridge, N.C. 28445.

The family will receive friends Thursday, August 21, 2014, from 6 p.m.-8 p.m.at Miilbrook Funeral Home Chapel, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd., Raleigh. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in her memory to The Healing Place of Wake County or "Share the Table", c/o Faith Harbor United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 2713, Surf City, N.C. 28445.

Tanya was born in Raleigh NC on July 28, 1973. She attended Millbrook High School, and Wake Tech, before moving to Kona, Hawaii where she worked in the hospitality industry. She returned to North Carolina in 2003 to give birth to her daughter Harley. She lived for 8 years in Surf City where she was employed by several local businesses. While in Surf City she was an active member of Faith Harbor United Methodist Church.

The first service will be held on Thursday, August 21 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Brown Wynne Funeral home at 1701 East Millbrook in Raleigh. The second service will be held on Sunday, August 31, at 3:00 PM at Faith Harbor United Methodist Church, 14201 NC Highway 50, Surf City.
