

It is with great sadness that the family of James Hershel Moore announces his passing at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Red Bluff, CA on Thursday, March 24, 2022, after complications from several medical issues. He was 86 years old.
Jim is the beloved husband and best friend of Ernestine J. Moore. Loving father to Mike Moore of Miami, OK, Dan Moore, of Oklahoma City, OK, Dottie Miner, of Red Bluff, CA, Linda Gannon, of Vancouver, WA, and Teresa Holtzclaw, of Red Bluff, CA.
He was an immensely proud grandfather to seven grandchildren, as well as fourteen great-grandchildren.
Born February 19, 1936, to William B. Moore and Opal (New) Moore in Steele, Missouri, he grew up on a farm in Gideon, Missouri with his two sisters and six brothers as the sixth of the eight children. His friends called him Jim, but his family and closest friends knew him as Hershey.
Jim served honorably the in the U.S. Air Force (1956-1959). In addition to several business ventures, he owned and managed, he served his Red Bluff community as a police officer, City Counselman, and two terms as Mayor. He also served as the Tehama County assistant coroner for several years.
He may be gone from us now, but his legacy of love for his family and friends, and service to his community and nation will live on for years to come.
A memorial service will be conducted at 12:00 pm on April 29, 2022, at the Red Bluff Seventh-Day Adventist Church; 720 S. Jackson St. Red Bluff, CA 96080
A private Interment will take place with family only at the Northern California Veteran’s Cemetery in Igo, CA.
Those wishing to make a memorial donation in memory of Jim, are asked to donate in his name to the National Association for Down Syndrome.
