Marvin James Woodstrup

Marvin J. Woodstrup peacefully passed away with famiyl by his side on May 4, 2025. Marvin was born in Oakland, CA on June 19, 1928 to Carl E and June M Woodstrup. He grew up in Chicago IL, along with his brother and sister. He Graduated from Thornton High School in 1946 then enlisted in the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. He attended college in Duluth, MN, N Il University, Washington State and San Francisco State Univ obtaining BS and MS degrees in education and psychology.

Having a passion for kids’ education, Marvin made an impact as a counselor, teacher, administrator and consultant for over 60 years serving in Chicago IL, Aberdeen WA, Fairfield-Suisun, Willows and Tehama County CA.

He was an avid artist. His paintings can be found in many homes of friends and family. He loved playing tennis until age of 90. Marvin’s Gardens Tennis Courts in Red Bluff were named after him. He was active in St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, serving on many committees, but most known for his famous breakfasts and men’s houseboat trips. He was a fabulous cook and loved doing so for large groups and family functions.

Marvin loved traveling with his beloved wife of 48 ½ years, Jeannie. They camped in the mountains and the beach, traveled to Europe and took cruises. Marvin loved all of his family members deeply and showed up for the many milestones of each of his 5 kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.

Marvin was preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother Tom. He is survived by his wife Jeannie, sister June Lucy of St. Petersburg FL, daughters Marvina and Dori Woodstrup, Sheri Marshall (Bob), Geri Pence (Rich), son Don Schroeder (Janet), 7 grandkids and 6 great-grandkids, and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday June 28th at 11 am at St. Peters Episcopal Church in Red Bluff. “COFFEE” and light refreshments will be served following the service. Family requests bright colors be worn to the celebration. In Lieu of flowers, Marvin has requested donations be made to the Episcopal Endowment Fund, any local scholarship fund or charity of your choice.
