Jack J. Ures August 8, 1930 – September 3, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jack J. Ures, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025, at the age of 95. He now reunites with his beloved wife, Joan, who preceded him in death on August 4, 2021.
Born on August 8, 1930, in Hayward, California, to John and Eva Ures, Jack’s greatest joy in life was his family. In 1952, he married Joan in a unique and memorable double ceremony alongside Joan’s twin sister, Jean, and his best friend, Jack Lamplough. Together, Jack and Joan created a home filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support — a true foundation for generations to come.
Jack began his career as a bank teller at Bank of America before proudly serving in the U.S. Air Force, including time stationed in Alaska. He later spent 35 years with the JCPenney Company, holding positions in Redding, Oakland, Phoenix, Long Beach, Missoula, and Arcadia. Throughout his career, he was known for his integrity, professionalism, and genuine respect for those around him.
An avid sportsman and fan, Jack loved golfing, hunting, fishing, and cheering on his favorite teams — the San Francisco 49ers and Giants. Vacations at Lake Tahoe or Lake Shasta were always family favorites. He and Joan also shared a love for entertaining and built lasting friendships through their warmth and hospitality. His golfing buddies will fondly recall his uncanny ability to sink a crucial putt just when it was needed.
Jack is survived by his children, John (Darla), Jim (Rochelle), and Jayne (Mark); his grandchildren, Jeremy, Josh, Zach, Jake, Jackie, Jillian, and Katelyn; and great-grandchildren, Noah, Xeyla, Kassius, Xeadyn, Remi, and a soon-to-be sibling of Kassius. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his kindness, generosity, and the enduring legacy of love and strength he leaves behind.
A funeral service will be held at McDonald’s Chapel in Redding, California, on Wednesday, September 25, 2025. Viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Jack’s memory to Willow Springs Memory Care in Redding, CA.
