
Lavena Catherine Thompson, 90 year old, longtime Shasta County resident, passed away at her home in Anderson on Sunday, August 14, 2011. She was born on June 22, 1921 in Mission Acres (now part of Los Angeles), CA to Charles and Vada Sneed. She attended Sepulveda Elementary School and Van Nuys High School graduating in 1939.
Lavena was the first librarian at Pacheco Prairie School retiring after 25 years with the school. She enjoyed square dancing and belonged to the Prairie Squares; was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution; local weight watchers program and thoroughly enjoyed going to the gym. Lavena loved spending time with her family and friends and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, Gordon Thompson of Anderson, California; daughter, Janet Ramsey and her husband Ben; two grandchildren, Annette and Nicholas Ramsey; two great grandchildren, Bradley and Rylan Ramsey and four nephews, Clint Custer, Henry, Steve and Mike Woodrum.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 22, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Redding Memorial Park.
