Fay (Mildred Fay Goody) Nelson was born Jan. 11, 1912 on a blustery N. Dakota night in Emerado to Emmett Charles & Opal Irena Goody. She passed into the presence of her dear Lord Sunday morning, August 31, 2014. She graduated from Modesto High School, Modesto Junior College, and San Jose State College, majoring in Education. She taught school prior to her marriage, and later at Oaklawn Christian School in Redding. She came to know the Lord Jesus Christ as her own personal Savior as a young adult, after becoming aware of the Gospel in the Scriptures. Forgiveness of sin brought her great joy, and changed the course of her life. Serving Christ became her passion. Shortly thereafter, she married the love of her life, Art Nelson, on June 25, 1939. She became a faculty wife when they moved from Modesto to Redding in 1948 and Art started teaching shop at Shasta Union High School. Her legacy to Redding has been the Bible teaching she gave to many children through Sunday school (both at church and in small area Sunday schools), Good News Clubs in her home, and VBS. She nurtured friends along the way, supported missions--local, foreign, and in her own family, and was a team with Art in their Christian education endeavors. And she truly loved babies. A faithful, serving member of Bible Baptist Church, and Grace Baptist Church, she prayed every day for her children and their families, as well as missionary friends around the world. Her dear husband, Arthur Richard Nelson, and many godly friends have preceded her to heaven's glory. She is survived by her four children; Arne (Tammy) Nelson of Redding, Sharon (Rex) Lewis of Salem, OR, Linda (Everett) Prewett of Redding, Grace (Ron) Wallace, of Salem, OR, as well as 14 grandchildren, and 32 great grandchildren. We, her children, rise up and call her blessed. She believed God's eternal Word that she is now standing in His presence. If you choose to honor her with a contribution, we suggest Bibles International to support Fay's passion for God and His Word.
