Pamela Ann Barni passed away unexpectedly on July 6, 2018 at Mercy Hospital (she would not want you to know her age, so let’s just say “60+”). Born in Freemont, California to USNR Medic Robert Francis Manley and Mary Concepta Manley, Pam enjoyed life and lived it fully with her husband Wayne, her kids Amber and Robert, her grandchildren, her numerous friends, and the turkeys, raccoons & skunks that squeezed through her cat door and were forever after treated like family.
Pam successfully worked in the dental field since the 1970s before spending more recent years in residential real estate in Redding (where she was known for her honesty and super cute outfits). She also loved good wine, boating on Whiskeytown Lake, Bingo in Reno with her daughter Amber, traveling to Napa (yum, wine!), and hosting Newcomers & Friends lunches for those relocating to Redding. She was also a regular supporter of The Good News Rescue, local women’s shelter, and any business that sold shoes. Pam never complained about life’s challenges, and nothing could dim her electric smile or wicked sense of humor.
Pam was uniquely committed to rescuing, adopting, and otherwise caring for cats. With husband of 30 years Wayne Barni, she took in dozens regardless of their age or medical needs and also supported the Haven Humane Society with regular deliveries of soft blankets and toys for cats waiting to find new homes. Redding now has a Guardian Saint of Cats, and she’ll always be wearing a sporty pair of Skechers!
Services will be held on July 17, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at McDonalds Funeral Home in Redding followed by lunch at Cheesecakes Unlimited. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Pam’s name to the Haven Humane Society, PO Box 992202, Redding, CA 96099-2202.
Onward and upward, Pam. Even on your worst day, you were nothing less than amazing.
