Velma Otela Farr

03/06/1926 – 05/08/2014

Velma Farr was born to Dewey and Nettie (Brown) Eskew on Saturday, March 06, 1926 in Scranton, Arkansas; the fifth of 11 children. She passed peacefully at the age of 88 at the Copper Ridge Care Center in Redding, CA on Thursday, May 8, 2014.

Velma was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Nettie; siblings, John, Ruby, Evert, Clyde, Lexie, Verla, Fannie and Robert.

She is survived by her brother, Jimmie Eskew and her sister, Shelby Wilkerson; her children, Jeannette Guinn, Earl Ray Farr, Brenda Diane Cunanan, Joyce Anne Chaplow, Janie Carol Brooks, Robert Lynn Farr, and Thomas Allen Farr; 14 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.

Velma was married to Haston Farr for almost 50 years. They lived in Arkansas, Missouri and California. During this time together they created the legacy of their family and friends as well as the spiritual family of friends across the nation.

Velma was very talented with her arts and crafts she created over the years. Her talents include: Cake decorating, baking, her legendary fried pies, doll-making, crocheting, knitting and quilting.

Velma will be missed most by her loving family and by those whose lives she touched all over the nation.

A visitation will be held at McDonald’s Chapel 1275 Continental St., Redding, CA 96001 on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date by the family.
