Claude Raymond Shaw III, 78, of Sandston passed away on Monday, March 18, 2019. He retired from Alcoa with 28 years of service and served in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He accepted the Lord in 1955 at Glen Allen Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Claude Shaw, Jr.; mother, Dorothy Ford Shaw; sister, Shirley Walton; and brother, Doug Shaw, Sr. and is survived by his loving wife, of 57 years, Barbara Austin Shaw; sister, Barbara Morris; daughters, Michelle Bolton (James) and Wendy Dowdy (Roy, Jr.); five grandchildren, Bryan Kelley, Kiersten Russo, Autum Dowdy, Mackenzie Bolton and Dustin Dowdy; two extended grandchildren, J. C. Bolton and Ambre Bolton; five great-grandchildren, Ethan, Gavin, Hunter, Adalynn and Elena. He will be remembered as a loving husband, caring father, doting grandfather and a friend to many. The family will receive friends Friday, March 22, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231 where services will be held Saturday, March 23, at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Signal Hill Memorial Park.
