Dolores Whitlock Johnson

Dolores W. Johnson 83, of Highland Springs, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 7, 2015. She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Garnette E. “Slim” Johnson Jr.; son, Michael E. Johnson; and parents, Ernest C. Whitlock Jr. and Irene K. Whitlock. Dolores worked as a Senior Insurance Underwriter for Commercial Union until her retirement. She’s a former member of Third Avenue Baptist Church and was an active singer in their choir. She enjoyed participating with the Bridge Club and crocheting. Dolores was a member of the Female & Doubles Bowling League, a Sandston Jets Little League Association Board Member, in the Professional Underwriters Club, and she loved to play scrabble and assorted card games. Dolores leaves to cherish her memory her children, Virginia Johnson, Catherine “Cathie” Eacho, Robert “Cliff” Johnson, Charlotte Blackwell (Dean), William “Bill” Johnson (Donna), Faith Hooper (Raymond), Garnette “Everette” Johnson III (Lisa); forty-five plus grand and great-grandchildren; siblings Charlotte Dunnavent (Vaughan), Ernest Whitlock III (Cookie), Carolyn Salomon (Chuck), and Stewart Whitlock (Linda); along with a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends. She will forever hold a place in their hearts. A memorial service will be held in Dolores’s honor on Monday, January 12, 2015 at 2pm at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave. Richmond, VA 23231.
