Dorothy Mae (Hrabovsky) Smith

Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, George A. Smith; her son, George A. Smith Jr.; and by her parents, brothers, and sisters.

Left to cherish Dorothy’s memory are her children, Linda Utt (Jesse), Jackie Albus, Tim Smith (Terri); grandchildren, Stephanie Crist (John), Melissa Heatley, Katie Vandjelovic (Nathan); great- grandchildren, Samuel Crist, Tallulah Heatley, and Luke, Seth, Jude, and Lily Vandjelovic; as well as her sister, Janet Doyle; and extended family and friends.

Dorothy was a devoted and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, and aunt.

Dorothy loved playing basketball during high school, being an artist, baking and cooking, gardening in her flower beds, and fishing and boating with family and friends. Dorothy was a lifetime member of the Richmond Apostolic Christian Church. She loved singing hymns to worship our Lord; as well as singing in her church choir and traveling with the choir to other churches through the years.

Our beloved mother will be remembered for her simple and selfless nature. We will miss her southern homemade cooking, her hospitality in hosting family gatherings and special celebrations, as well as her homemade pies, especially her delicious chocolate and lemon cloud pies.

We will cherish our precious memories of our loving mother. Dorothy’s joy for life will be dearly missed, as we are thankful she is resting peacefully in the safe arms of her Savior, Jesus.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 12:30 p.m. at Apostolic Christian Church, 3800 Charles City Road, Henrico, VA 23231.

Interment will be private.
