Helen Elizabeth Matthews Maybush Stanley, 62, of Highland Springs passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2018. She was born and raised in the Oregon Hill neighborhood of Richmond where she and her husband have close ties. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed life and travelling especially to Buckroe Beach. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles E. L. Matthews, Sr. and Emma Lee Hoover Matthews. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Marvin L. Stanley; children, Angela Wrigglesworth (Curtiss), Shawn Maybush, Jeremy Stanley (Brittani), Trish Stanley and Bryan Stanley (Jade); granddaughters, Phoenyx and Ember; siblings, Charles E. L. Matthews, Jr. and Laura Anne Matthews; and mother-in-law, Lottie Stanley. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Nov. 7, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231. The family will also receive friends on Thursday, Nov. 8, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. with a funeral service immediately following at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
