James J. "Joe" Comer, Jr., 80, of Sandston, entered eternal rest on Monday, January 22, 2018. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Deborah H. Comer; and parents, James and Elizabeth Comer Sr. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Jimmy Comer (Amy), Kendra Madison (Rick), Kristin Pollard (Craig) and Shannon Wood (E.B.); grandchildren, Tyler and Lacie Madison, Meaghan and Eryn Comer, Marissa Wood and Anderson and Collin Pollard; sisters, Mabel Fox and Ann Schaffer; niece, Lynn Vaughn (Eric); and special friends, Jerry and Debbie Taylor. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231. Services will be held on Friday, January 26, 11 a.m. at Laurel Hill United Methodist Church, 1919 New Market Rd., Richmond, Va. 23231. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America at PVA.org or to the charity of your choice.
