Jim, or Whitey, was a person I will never forget.  I ran many races with Whitey on Long Island, was on relay racing teams with him, and always look forward to running the Rockville Centre  10k with Whitey, especially hanging out with him after the races when the local taverns served nickel beers to the runners back in the 1980's and 1990"s.

Whitey used to live in Kings Park NY (Long Island) and I lived in Smithtown, the adjacent town, and enjoyed casual running at Sunken Meadow Park with Whitey along the Long Island Sound. Whitey was quite a good runner and love competing with and against him in the local 5k and 10k races since Whitey was usually in my age group, Whitey was a year younger. Whitey made our runs go fast because he was very interesting and funny to talk with during a jog.

My condolences to Liz and your family. I only found out Whitey passed from Alan Goon, Whitey's good friend, at the start of the Long Island half marathon earlier this month. I was shocked. But at least I knew Whitey passed while running, something Whitey loved to do. RIP my friend, I will catch up with you later.  Kingman.


I lived in a dorm suite with Jim and 6 others in our freshman year at Wake Forest. We used to go running at night and I would try my best to keep up with him. Due to some family challenges I left Wake Forest after that year and we lost touch, except for one dinner in NY a few years later. He was such a good soul. I will never forget his smile and great spirit.

Jim was a great guy. He will be missed by many. May he rest in eternal peace.

So very very sorry to hear of Jim's passing.  He and I had just started talking about a refi when my husband of 35 years died at 58.  His kindness was truly touching and I very much appreciated his understanding.  May God grant you both the peace that passes all understanding in this most difficult time.

I was so saddened to hear of Jim's passing.  He was a kind and gentle man who helped all he came in contact with.  His spirit has touched many. My sincere condolences to Liz and Daniel and the Whitehead family.  God Speed Jim.....we shall meet again.

I am so saddened by Jim's Passing. Truly a great guy.  A fierce competitor on the track, he won not only the admiration of his teammates but his competition as well.  Always enjoyed seeing him at some race when he popped back into RVC for a visit.  My condolences to his family and friends.

Jim was a person who lived his faith.  He was so generous with his time in spending it with people (through the Befriender ministry at church) that needed to have a listening and caring presence.  He had tremendous insight and took the time to really listen before offering a response.  He always had a smile and just genuinely cared.  He will be greatly missed.

I'm so sorry to hear the news of Jimmy.  He was a big part of my youth. I have great memories of all the fun we had together.  My deepest condolences to Liz and Daniel Whitehead.

Jimmy was not just my cousin, but truly one of the happiest, kindest people I've ever known. Though we rarely saw each other except family gatherings, my happy memories of Jimmy in younger days will never be forgotten. Jim and i got to work together in 1985 when he was becoming a mortage broker in NYC. We kept in touch with each other since We always had good times together. He was always there for me.
