Kevin moved from Maryland to Richmond in 1966, where he graduated from Huguenot High School. After employment as an architectural draftsman for several years, Kevin devised a new strategy in the mid 1980s for the use of computer technology for the management of the construction of smaller commercial buildings, in which he was engaged until the mid 1990s. Thereafter, Kevin was a prolific salesman of personal watercraft, a business which he operated from the marina along the James in which he lived full time on his houseboat for many years. From his adolescence, Kevin was a gifted captain of boats of ever increasing size, including his 53 foot cabin cruiser, which was his pride and joy.
Ten years ago, Kevin embarked on a new passion, when he became an avid gamer and teacher in the online World of Warships community. “Keviseeb” live-streamed six evenings a week on Twitch, and amassed a following of the 28,000 people for whom he was a tutor, mentor, and friend. His witty commentary invited the participation of the many people who feel a great void, now that he is no longer the salty Captain or long-haul driver they looked forward to following online, Monday through Saturday evenings.
Kevin is survived by his daughter, Erin Kirby (Michael) and two grandchildren, Emma and Aiden. He is also survived by his oldest brother, Allen (Barbara) and his twin brother, Brian (Lynne), and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Ruth Seeber, and two brothers, Gary and Jeffrey.
Kevin was especially cherished for more than twenty-five years, and now after his passing, by his close friend and confidante, Michaele Upshur, and her husband, Henry, on whose property he resided after Kevin’s full-time boating days came to an end.
The family will gather for a private ceremony, and will arrange a later reunion for Kevin with the waters on which he spent many happy hours.
