Lawrence Alan Cousins, Sr.

Lawrence Alan Cousins, Sr., was called home by his Lord on Wednesday, March 18, 2015. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas Edward Sr. and Gladys W. Cousins; brother, T.E. “Ed, Jr.” Cousins; and precious daughter, Tammy Jo Cousins. Lawrence retired from a military career at the rank of Lt. Col. He was a charter member of Harvest Baptist Church, long-time member of Varina Ruritan, and delivery driver for Meals on Wheels for many years. He truly loved God, his family, and others. Lawrence taught us all about integrity, selfless service, and sacrificial love by the example he consistently demonstrated. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 59 years, Jacqueline “Jackie” Woods Cousins; son, Alan Cousins (Debbie); daughter, Stephanie McClung (Michael); grandchildren, Lawrie Beth and Chip Cousins, Kayla and Korey Ashworth; great-grandchildren, Maebie, Dominic, and Karsyn; sister, June Holmes and her family; his loving church family; and many special friends. The family will receive visitors on Sunday, March 22 from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA. A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, March 23, 11 a.m., at Harvest Baptist Church, 5561 Meadow Rd., Sandston, VA.
