She was the daughter of Wade and Carrie Owen of Chesterfield, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life for 63 years, Wilson “Danny” King and her sister, Betty Lee Ballowe. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Brock of Richmond; son Paul King (Beverly) of Quinton; granddaughters, Amanda, Jessica, and Jennifer Martin; grandson, Eathan King; great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Fones, Carson Foley and Brycen Russell; and her special friends who are also her cousins, Pat Wise and Bobbie Jean Shifflett.
Out of high school, Mary worked for Seaboard Railroad in Richmond, VA. Later in life she worked at Robertshaw Controls and AVEC Electronics. Her biggest and most favorite “job” was being able to stay home and raise her children. She loved to bake and decorate cakes for friends and family. She liked to sew and crochet, making beautiful afghans for her children and grandchildren. She loved to travel. She and Danny spent many months every year traveling the country in their Airstream and spending their Winters in Florida. When at home, she loved spending time at her river house in Gloucester. She loved hosting holiday dinners at her home for her family, fixing all her signature dishes that were enjoyed by all. She loved the Lord and studying his word and was a member of Hopewell Baptist. She was an avid shopper and always made sure she was dressed from head to toe with matching clothing, shoes and jewelry. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Airstream RV association. Her spunky personality, honesty, and infectious laugh will truly be missed.
