Nelson John Alston Jr.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandmothers, Katherine Bailey and Alice Haynes; and uncle William.

He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Henrico, VA and was a Army dependant, living in Pusan Korea for a year, Ft. Ritchie, MD for 3 years and Ft. Belvoir, VA for 3 years.

Nelson was a Painter and Artist, Guitar player, singer, enjoyed role player games and chess.

He was born in Philadelphia, PA at the Women’s Medical College Hospital and is survived by his mother, Laverne Leah Robinson; father, Nelson Alston, Sr.; step-father, Steven Michael Meyers; grandmom, Ruby Lee Robinson; grand-pop, Leroy Robinson, Jr.; paternal grandmother, Lucy Mae Alston; brothers, Troy Alston, Drew and Matt Nowak, Ray Kilburn, Carter Hindman, Nick Zimbro, and John Stephens; sisters, Amena and her husband; sister – in – laws Jessica Alston and spouse, Gloria Nowak, Crystal Nowak, Amy Hindman.

The family will receive friends Monday, December 30 from 12 until service time at 1 pm at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave, Richmond, VA 23231 Interment will be Tuesday, December 31 at 11 am at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations be given to Diabetes Foundation, Kidney Foundation, or any Mental Health Hospital of your choice.
