Pauline Eura Throckmorton Gray

Pauline was born in Varina, Virginia on November 28, 1925. She graduated from Varina High School in 1944 and married John E. Gray, Sr. on December 21, 1946. They were married for 71 years until his death on September 9, 2018.

Pauline worked in the upholstery business and as a bookkeeper in their oil delivery service business. Most of her life was as a homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved baking and creating memorable birthday cakes for the grandchildren, hosting family Thanksgiving dinners and “being there” for her immediate and extended family. She was described by everyone who knew her as “the nicest person”.

Pauline’s first love was her family including two children; son, John Edward (Eddie) Gray, Jr. and wife, Teri; daughter, Joanne Gray Neisz and deceased husband, Bob; six grandchildren, Brad Gray and wife, Amber, Amy Cox and husband, Robbie Carroll; Eric Cox and wife, Amber, Tammy Campbell and husband, Jason, Matthew Gray and wife, Kim, and Merideth Gray; and six great grandchildren, Joshua Ethan Campbell, Samantha Dawn Cox, Kaylee Mae Carroll, Landon Wayne Gray, John Derrick Anthony Cox, and Savannah Lynn Gray. We all loved her dearly and will miss her tremendously.

The family will receive friends Thursday, July 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231.

A funeral service will be held Monday, July 14, at 2 p.m. at Four Mile Creek Baptist Church, 2950 New Market Road, Richmond, VA 23231.

Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park.
