

He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years and love of his life, Lilly Madsen Boggs; daughter, Karen Edwards; and his parents Clen and Wilma Boggs.
He is survived by his children, Cindy Smith and husband Farin, Patti Baicy, Tim Boggs; four grandchildren, Kevin Smith (Katie), Joshua Smith (Marissa), Samantha Baicy, Zachary Baicy; two great grandsons, Camden Shait and Nolan Smith; loving sister, Alice McGhee and husband Mac; and several nieces and nephews.
Bob was born in Parkersburg, WV. The family moved to Plain View Farm in Old Church, VA in 1943, where he graduated from Battlefield Park School in 1949. Bob proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955. He and Lilly returned to the family farm in Old Church following his discharge. Bob was a farmer and gifted sheet metal mechanic, retiring from Reynolds Metals Company. Following retirement he and Lilly operated an upholstery business, fished the Chesapeake Bay, camped at Newpoint, and traveled in their RV. Bob was a lifetime member of Manchester Masonic Lodge #14, member of the Acca Shriners and Provost guard, past Major of the Provost Guard, member of the Manchester Moose Club, member of the American Legion, and a former member of the Royal Order of Jesters and Scottish Rite. He was a member of Branches Baptist Church and a man of faith, setting an example of kindness and respect for all. He was always a loving, devoted husband and the supreme caregiver to Lilly in her final years, and a wonderful father and grandfather. He loved the land, the water, and animals and always saw the beauty in God's creations. Daddy, we miss you and you will always be in our hearts.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, February 15, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231, with interment following at Washington Memorial Park.
