

Robert Elton Clarke Sr., 82, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away on February 26, 2026. Born September 25, 1943, Robert will be remembered with deep respect and gratitude for a life marked by steadfast devotion to family, country, and community.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Betty Dameron Clarke; his parents, Otis and Mable Clarke; and his siblings, Billy G. Clarke, Mary Ann Grove, and Anna Jett.
Robert worked for over 40 years for Scott and Stringfellow, a testament to his loyal and hardworking nature. He was also an Air Force veteran, serving his country with honor.
A golf enthusiast, Robert enjoyed time on the course and valued the camaraderie of good friends—especially while spending time with his buddies at VFW #8529 and the Moose Lodge, where he was a member for over 50 years.
Robert is survived by his children, Robert Clarke, Jr. (Debra), C. Christopher Clarke (Maria), and Gary Clarke (Kim); his grandchildren, Elizabeth Greve (Dustin), George Clarke, Julie Clarke, Alayna Clarke, and Alivia Clarke; his great-granddaughter, Joslyn Greve; his sister, Dottie Walkup (Gary); and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231.
A private inurnment will be held in Washington Memorial Park at a later date.
