

Robert (Bobby) Edward Jones, Jr. of Sandston, Virginia age 90 years old went to be with Jesus May 13, 2025. He was born February 28, 1935 in Hopewell, Virginia to Myrtle Hambright Jones and Robert Jones, Sr. who preceded him in death.
Bobby left behind a loving wife of 60 years, Ellen Harper Jones, two devoted children, Michael Jones of Richmond and Diane Jones Waller (Curt) of Grapevine, Texas, and two grand-daughters, Makena and Mandie Waller who brought him great joy. Bobby is also survived by his beloved siblings, Mary Robinson (Andy deceased) of Warren, MI, David Jones (Frances) of Chester, VA, Carole Ann Campbell (Bruce) of Hopewell, VA , sister-in-law Virginia Harper of Urbanna, VA and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who are like family.
Bobby enjoyed the simple things in life, loved Jesus and spending time with family most. He was a veteran of the US Coast Guard during the Korean War era. Bobby was a big history buff, particularly of Virginia history, an avid reader and storyteller, sharing entertaining stories of his colorful youth and days gone by that were always a highlight of family gatherings. He looked forward to harvesting and sharing the rewards of his enormous vegetable garden, never minding the hard-work involved and loved being with nature on his and Ellen’s farm in King and Queen County. Bobby spent a lifetime using his strong hands and creative inventiveness helping others by building or fixing things when others didn’t have the means, strength or knowledge. He retired from American Machine & Foundry (AMF) in 1997 after working 30 years as a maintenance mechanic and previously at Rish Equipment Company.
Graveside funeral services will be Saturday, May 17th at 11am at Smyrna Christian Church, 3655 Powcan Rd, Bruington, VA 23023.
The family requests no flowers, but monetary donations may be made to Smyrna Christian Church Cemetery Fund.
