Robert A. "Bob" Kipps, Sr., 59, of Sandston, passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2017. He was a retired firefighter with Richmond International and served in the U.S. Army. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He especially enjoyed visits from his hummingbirds. He was preceded in death by his mother, Pauline Kipps; and his mother-in-law, Shirley Gray. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 35 years, Juanita “Lynn” Kipps; children, Alan Kipps Jr. (Christy) and Kelly Kipps; grandchildren, Nala and Elijah; father, Dolph Kipps; brother, Doug Kipps; father-in-law, Robert C. Gray; sisters-in-law, Ann Martin (Buck) and Rita Edwards (Rocky); brother-in-law, Glenn Gray; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as his firefighter brethren. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 2, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park. The family requests casual attire for both the visitation and funeral.
